RELD Projects: Groundwork Landscaping

Project Details:

To create a new pathway:
Firstly the area was excavated and a sub base of stone was laid and compacted. Following this red block was set along the edges and a 60mm base course of asphalt was laid. The path was then finished with a 30mm surface course which brought the asphalt level with the block, which was in turn level with the grass.

To create the decked area:
Firstly a section of existing path was removed from near to the rear exit. Following this a base was created using treated timbers, which were fix using joist hangers and concreted wooded posts. The decking boards were fixed to ensure they ran level with the frame of the rear exit, whilst the installation of the hand rails and spindles completed the construction.

To extend and resurface the existing communal area:
Firstly the area around the existing communal area was excavated and a sub base of stone was laid and compacted. Following this red block was set around the edge of the new and existing areas and a 60mm base course of asphalt was laid in the extended area. Both the new and existing areas were then finished with a 30mm surface course of asphalt, this ensured that the asphalt, block and decking were to one level.

To re-edge and re-surface existing perimeter path ways:
Firstly the existing wooded edgings were removed from the path ways and a narrow trench dug. Following this red block was set proud of the existing path way, which was then finished with a 30mm surface course of asphalt. The grassed areas were then dressed with top soil to ensure that the grass, block and asphalt were to one level.

Other works completed:
An RCD protected external power supply was installed to accommodate the decking lights and a socket for the water feature.
An existing grassed area was treated and a ground cover laid. This was then filled and levelled with decorative stone. A border was also filled and levelled with decorative stone. Wooden planters were supplied, stocked and displayed around the new communal area.
